Confirmed dates for the main market
The Main Christmas Market on Hlavné námestie is announced for 26 November 2026 to 3 January 2027, with the Christmas tree lighting planned for 27 November. These dates apply to the main market; other events may follow separate schedules. Check holiday exceptions and the organiser’s latest programme before travelling.
Our idea for an unhurried evening
Give yourself time to arrive and settle in. Head into the centre while there is still daylight, wander the old streets and return to the square after dark. Look around the stalls before choosing dinner. With children, agree on a meeting point and build in short indoor breaks.
Give yourself two evenings
Keep the first evening for the markets and the next for a quieter meal or walk. Swap plans if the weather changes. An apartment gives you room for a break, breakfast at your own pace and a change of clothes before heading out again. Warm shoes and layers are more useful than an overfilled itinerary.
